CMA Intermediate Course – Complete Information The CMA Intermediate course is the second level of the Cost and Management Accountancy program conducted by the Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICMAI). It builds on accounting, taxation, costing, financial management, auditing, and business strategy concepts and is a major step toward becoming a qualified CMA. ✅ Eligibility You can register for CMA Intermediate through either of these routes: Foundation Route Pass CMA Foundation Examination. Direct Entry Route Graduate in any discipline (except certain fine arts-related fields), or Qualified CA Intermediate, CS Executive/Intermediate, or other recognized qualifications as per ICMAI rules. 📚 CMA Intermediate Subjects The course consists of 8 papers divided into 2 groups. Group I Paper 5 Business Laws and Ethics Paper 6 Financial Accounting Paper 7 Direct and Indirect Taxation Paper 8 Cost Accounting Group II Paper 9 Operations Management and Strategic Management Paper 10 Corporate Accounting and Auditing Paper 11 Financial Management and Business Data Analytics Paper 12 Management Accounting 📝 Exam Pattern Total Papers: 8 Marks per Paper: 100 Duration: 3 Hours per Paper Mode: Offline (Centre-Based Examination) Students can appear for: Group I only Group II only Both Groups Together 🎯 Passing Criteria To pass: Minimum 40% marks in each paper Minimum 50% aggregate in each group ⏳ Course Duration Most students complete CMA Intermediate in: 1–2 years (depending on preparation and exam attempts) The complete CMA journey (Foundation + Intermediate + Final + Training) generally takes around 3–4 years. 💼 Practical Training ICMAI requires practical training as part of the CMA qualification process.
